Kettlebell Newbie

I am new to the world of kettlebells but I have had very positive results during my first two weeks. I have already lost 5 lbs. and I feel great! My endurance, flexibility and strength have increased. I already see a noticeble difference in how my clothes fit!

To give you a little background about myself, I am a 36 year old stay-at-home mom. My son is now 19 months old. Needless to say, I gained a few extra pounds during my pregnancy that have proved difficult for me to shed. I must admit that I had not been diligent about going to the gym as I was prior to my pregnancy. I joined a local gym almost 2 months ago but just recently added kettlebells to my workout. It wasn't until I began using the kettlebells that I started seeing results. My husband has been using kettlebells for over four years but I guess I was intimidated to use them. I tried picking up one of his kettlebells in the past but it was much too heavy for me. I didn't realize at the time that there were lighter kettlebells that were more suitable for me.


Today, I am using a 26 lb kettlebell. My current routine consists of swings (2-hands and 1-hand), squats, deadlifts and figure 8s. Yesterday, I attempted to do cleans. I have yet to do snatches. Each session I add another exercise to my routine.


I am still learning and experimenting with my kettlebell workout. I am extremely thrilled with my results so far. Nothing that I have tried in the past has given me such positive results in such a short amount of time, especially with respect to weight loss, toning, strength training, flexibility and endurance. I highly recommend kettlebells if you are serious about getting in shape!
